In light of the growing developments with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the CLEP program is focused on ensuring the safety of our students, education professionals, and staff.
Given the closures of many high schools, colleges, and universities, we’d like to provide test takers, testing staff, and other education professionals the following information in the event that they are impacted by COVID-19.
Please continue to check back regularly for updates.
Test takers whose registration tickets expired on or after March 1 due to the impact of COVID-19 are elgible to receive a CLEP exam voucher that would allow them to take an exam any time between now and June 30th, 2021.
If you purchased a registration ticket that has expired, please contact CLEP Services by emailing clep@info.collegeboard.org with "Exam Voucher – Coronavirus" in the subject line or by calling 800-257-9558. When contacting CLEP, please include your name, address, telephone number, and CLEP exam subject.
Please note that these vouchers are for students who purchased their registration tickets. If you registered for your CLEP exam using a voucher code from your school or another entity, please contact the person who provided the original voucher.
As many states have reopened or will be reopening soon, the status of CLEP test centers may have changed.
If you're planning to take a CLEP exam, we strongly advise you to contact the test center immediately to confirm that they're currently administering CLEP exams. If not, find out if you can make arrangements to test at that center at a later date or find another test center by using the CLEP Test Center Search tool. Reminder: CLEP registration tickets are valid for 6 months and can be used at any CLEP test center.
NOTE: The designation “Open” in the Test Center Search results indicates that a test center administers CLEP exams to all test-takers. It is not an indication that the center is open or closed for business.
Unfortunately, CLEP does not have the ability to change its delivery model in the immediate future or offer remote proctoring this spring. We'll communicate with all test centers if anything changes but expect to continue to make CLEP available under its current model for the foreseeable future.
The CLEP Program will not be suspending CLEP testing and are leaving closure decisions to individual test centers. However, as states begin to reopen, we encourage all centers to follow the guidance of the CDC and their state and local governments.
The link below provides updated information for CLEP test centers about reopening after the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. The document includes general information resources, recommendations from CLEP, and answers to common questions.
